Geocache Description:

Cache is located near the top of Mt. Crag. Trail is in good condition but is quite steep in two relatively short places. Views from the top are spectacular and well worth the walk in any season.

The cache is an ammo box about 200 feet off the trail. There is no need to descend any cliff or steep drop offs to find this cache. To start the cache we have included a small maglight, bungee cords, small stapler, paperback book, small piece of petrified wood, New Hampshire quarter, keychain, and a travel bug. Start your walk at the gate for the Austin Brook Trail off North Road in Shelburne. (N 44.24.755 w 071.04.075). Travel 1/3 mile to the junction of the yellow trail and turn left to begin your assent. On the way up check out the bear tracks on a beech tree about 10 feet from the trail on the right at the sharp left turn. (N 44.25.209 W 071.04.332 - elevation 1183 feet). Continue to the top of the mountain (elevation 1370 feet) and enjoy the views of Shelburne Village, the Androscoggin River, and Mt. Washington and Mt. Madison. Distance from North Road to the cache is about 1 mile.
