The cache is a well-hidden, camouflaged micro container with log only; bring your own pen/pencil. Beware of muggles at certain times, (mostly warmer months).

This cache is located within Gazebo Park in Chester, IL, the birth city of Elzie Segar, and is named for the comic strip Segar created. Wimpy, Popeye and Olive Oyl were all characters in the ‘Thimble Theatre’ comic strip and are said to be inspired by real people who lived in Chester.
The Wimpy statue in this park was unveiled in 2006 during the annual Popeye Picnic, which is held every September. The statue was introduced by Ernie Schuchert and Mike Murphy, both great nephews of William Schuchert, the man whom local residents claim is the inspiration for the Wimpy character. The five ft. tall, 3 ton granite statue was made in China. A month long journey by container ship was required for the statue to reach the U.S from China. The statue was then trucked to its final destination and now rests atop a 1 ton granite base in the park. The Wimpy statue is the first addition to the character trail planned for the park.
‘Spinach Can Collectibles’ is located in the adjacent building east of the park, where many interesting Popeye memorabilia are displayed. Chester also boasts a bronze statue of Popeye, though it is located in Elzie Segar Park, and contains Geocache GCW3X0.
