When San Mateo County recently rebuilt the main parking area at Edgewood Preserve, they thoughtfully installed a classic cache hide on the nearby road right-of-way.
However, the powers that be forgot to provide the cache, so we have remedied the oversight. As of 2/17/10, the cache is a large magnetic mints tin. Please close it carefully before rehiding.
Though the cache isn't in the park, we strongly suggest you visit it! The Sylvan Loop trail provides a 2.5 mile hiking or jogging loop from the canyon up to the central serpentine grasslands and back. If you're a wildflower lover, it's best visited in the early spring, when displays of houndstongue, shooting star, and Indian warrior are at their best.
