Geocache Description:

A hike to a 300 foot cascade, one of the highest in the White Mountains. The last mile of the hike is a steady uphill climb.

Start at the Austin Brook hiking trail on North Road in Shelburne, NH. (44.24.755 071.04.075). Park across the street from the gate west of the brook. Do not block the gate. Follow the Austin Brook Trail (blue trail) for about 2.5 miles to a split in the trail (44.26.575 071.04.265). Take the left fork on the Dryad Fall Trail (yellow trail) and continue for about 1/3 mile to the Dryad Fall turnoff. (44.26.578 071.04.633). Follow this trail about 100 yards to an area near the top of the falls. Be careful here as wet rocks can be slippery. Due to the dense foliage there is nowhere to see the entire falls, but the view from the cache site is quite beautiful. To start the cache we have included an army surplus flashlight, emergency poncho, hand warmer, Speedo Sport wristwatch, bottle opener key ring, small stapler, small jigsaw puzzle, and a paperback book. The Sport watch is intended for the "First to Find", but take whatever item you wish.
