Geocache Description:

Located at the side of the road. This should be a very easy find for cachers of all ability levels.

I was working in the area and thought it would be a good place for a cache for no other reason than to get people up to this part of Calaveras County. An old-timer told me there was an Army fort here a long time ago. The cache site is not at the fort site but nearby. The cache is a small vitamin-type bottle hidden from sight. It contains only a geonote and a log sheet so BYOP. For an interesting drive try turning left on Hubbard Rd. Follow the signs far enough and you will wind up back on Armstrong. This area was known by the hippies as Sunshine Mountain. A friend of mine who is now a local businessman lived here in a teepee for a year in the early 70's. Fricot City Rd. is a good ride up or back. While in Sheep Ranch go to the end of Main St. to see the historic Pioneer Hotel. There are no services available so bring your own food if you plan to picnic.
