Wichstadtl je podhorska vesnice, jejiz zastavene uzemi lezi v nadmorske vysce od 508 do 583 m.n.m. v blizkosti statni hranice s Polskou republikou.
Az do 2.poloviny 13.stoleti byl v prostoru dnesni obce pouze rozsahly pomezni hvozd bez komunikaci, teprve v souvislosti s kolonizacni cinnosti na prelomu 13. a 14. stoleti vznikly v tomto hvozdu komunikace spojujici Stity, Mezilesi a Wichstadtl. V prubehu 1. pol. 14. stoleti byla v lese objevena loziska kovu, coz vyvolalo hornickou kolonizaci, jejimz centrem se stal Wichstadtl. Az do pocatku 16. stoleti byl Wichstadtl prislusenstvim panstvi zampasskeho. V roce 1513 si jej zvolil Jan Zampach z Potstejna za sve sidlo - zbudoval si zde tvrz, ktera stavala nedaleko dnesni mladkovske elektrarny.
V roce 1577 se Wichstadtl uvadi jako mestecko, pusobila zde sklarska hut.
Navstevniky pritahuji zejmena vyznamne geomorfologicke jevy - prulom toku Divoke Orlice u Klasterce nad Orlici a Tiche Orlice u Mladkova hrbetem Orlickych hor a vytvorena udoli kanoviteho charakteru - Zemska brana a Studenecke skaly - rulove skaly vznikle mrazovym zvetravanim.Uzemim prochazi nejvyznacnejsi turisticka magistrala Orlickych hor - Jiraskova horska cesta ve smeru od Zemske brany pres chatu na Adamu, Mladkov, Vysoky kamen a pokracuje na Suchy vrch. V roce 1978 zridila ochrana prirody naucnou stezku Zemska brana. Z Mladkova na Suchy vrch pres delostreleckou tvrz Bouda vede naucna stezka Betonova hranice. Zaroven lezi Mladkov v sousedstvi strediska letni rekreace - udolni nadrze Pastviny.
Mladkov je nazyvan "Ceským Meranem" pro znamenite chranenou polohu, radioaktivni prameny a velmi príznive podnebi. Jako prijemne a osvezujici letovisko je velmi obliben.
Cache se Ti odmeni krasnym vyhledem, kde na vychode muzes videt Praded (za dobraho pocasi), na JJV je Suchy vrch, na SZ zase Adam. Divej se a rozjimej.

Wichstadtl is a mountain village, that was built from 508 to 583 level above sea near Polish borders. The village is ideally sited as a whole-year tourist centre in relatively little frequented region. It is situated in the north-west end of the Suchy vrch ridge (995 m. above sea level), which is a single massif in the the most eastern part of Orlicke hory. Beautiful surroundings of the village and low density of settlement determined this area especially for recreation, short-term as well as long – term. Mladkovska vrchovina, where Mladkov lies, is the lowest situated and the smallest part of Orlicke hory, with the highest peaks only about 700 m. (Adam – 765 m, Studeny – 721 m, Vysoky kamen – 843 m). Visitors are attracted mainly by noted geomorfological phenomenna – flow of the river Divoka Orlice near Klasterec nad Orlici and the river Ticha Orlice near Wichstadtl across the ridge up Orlicke hory and canyon – like valleys: Zemska brana and Studenecke skaly – rocks created by frost action.
The most important tourist route up Orlicke hory leads you through this region – Jiraseks mountain path in the direction from the Zemska brana across the cottage Adam, Wichstadtl, Vysoky kamen and terminates on Suchy vrch. In 1978 the environmentalists established an educational path called Zemska brana. The educational path Betonova hranice starts in Mladkov, continues across artillery strong -–hold Bouda and terminates on Suchy vrch. The Pastviny dam lies in Mladkov´s nighbourhood. Mladkov is protected by mountains from all directions and has quite pleasant climate. These factors together with its radioactive streams make the village a wonderful and refreshing resort.
Petrovicky (recreation area) belongs to Wichstadtl and Vlckovice were annexed in 1975. Wichstadtl has 172 houses; 34 of those are recreation cottages. Petrovicky has 40 houses and 36 of these are cottages. Vlckovice has only 58 houses and 14 of these are cottages.

Wichstadtl ist ein Vorgebirgsdorf, dessen verbautes Gebiet in der Seehöhe von 508-583 m und in der Nähe der Staatsgrenze mit Polen liegt. Wegen der ideale Lage und der herrschenden Ruhe wird die Gemeinde rund um das Jahr als Erholungsraum genutzt. Sie liegt an dem Nordwestende des Kammes Suchy vrch (Dürrer Berg 995 m ü.d.M.Ü, der das selbständige Massiv des östlichen Teils des Adlergebirges bildet. Die malerische und zugleich nicht dichtbevölkerte Umgebung des Ortes bestimmte dieses Gebiet sowohl zur kurzfristigen als auch zur langfristigen Erholung vor. Das Mladkover Bergland, in dem die Gemeinde Wichstadtl liegt, ist der kleinste und am niedrigsten liegende Teil des Adlergebirges, dessen höchste Gipfel sich nur um 700 m ü.d.M. herum erheben (Adam – 765 m ü.d.M., Studen7 – 721 m ü.d.M., Vysoky Kamen – 843 m ü.d.M). Die Besucher werden durch bedeutende geomorfologische Erscheinungen gelockt. Es sind der Durchbruch des Stromlaufes des Flusses Divok8 Orlice Wilde Adler bei Klasterec nad Orlici und des Flusses Ticha Orlice (Stille Adler) bei Wichstadtl durch den Kamm des Adlergebirges und die gebildeten Täler, die den Canon-Charakter tragen, sowie auch die Gneisfelsen Zemska brana und Studenecke skaly, die durch den Frostverwitterungsprozess entstanden.
Durch das Territorium führt die bedeutendste touristische Magistrale des Adlergebirges – Jirasek Bergweg in der Richtung von Zemska brana über die Hütte auf dem Berg Adam, Wichstadtl, Vysoky kamen und führt weiter bis zu dem Suchy vrch (Dürrer Berg). Im Jahre 1978 wurde von dem Naturschutzverein der Lehrpfad "Zemska brana" errichtet. Von Mladkov bis zum Suchy vrch über die Artilleriefestung "BOUDA" führt der Lehrpfad "BETONGRENZE". Die Gemeinde Wichstadtl liegt nicht weit vom Sommererholungsgebiet Pastviny, wo sich eine Talsperre befindet. Wichstadtl hat eine wunderschöne, gut geschützte Lage, radioaktive Quellen und ein sehr günstiges Klima und es ist ein sehr beliebtes Reiseziel und eine gemütliche Sommerfrische.
