off of Old Mason Farm Road. Parking Entrance:
N35 54.068 W79
01.916 The cache is neither in the
Botanical
Gardens nor on their Piedmont Nature trails
(printable .pdf map)>, but a visit there is always
worthwhile. Carefully cross the bypass with the
light and turn left to walk along Fern Lane to the North Carolina
Botanical Garden Coker Pinetum Nature Trail
trailhead. NCBGCPNT trailhead: N35 53.981 W79 02.141 At some
point you will need to cross the creek, reasonably easy at any
number of places except after heavy rains.
The published coordinates are for the first
stage where you will find sixteen characters indicating the final
stage coordinates in the conventional format for latitude and
longitude: HDD° MM.MMM'
As you could surmise from cache name, you should not expect any of
those familiar Arabic numerals.
Just as a point of interest: The
trails here follow Meeting of the Waters Creek, which originates
from a spring below the Carolina Inn, is buried for most of its
early run under UNC roads and buildings, except a brief showing
near the UNC Bell Tower from 35 54.518 -79
03.000 to 35 54.488 -79
02.989, picks up lots of storm drain water, and then
re-emerges East of Boshamer UNC Baseball Stadium at 35 54.314 -79 02.518 to run down this ravine
and then under the Bypass into the Botanical Garden.
