Geocache Description:

This is a multi of different clues & caches spread around the park, easy terrain, designed to let you see the park & some of its trees & perhaps broaden your knowledge of them & also meet some of the locals (Wetas) etc at the same time. When I was scoping this park out I was struck by the number of memorable & diverse type of trees here & hopefully you will as well.

START POINT--co-ordinates will lead you to a bench where you can rest awhile before you start your journey.
In front of you, find the *sticky tree* & proceed to make a whistle stop there--Look for the whistles on the tree (some sort of gum ).If they are out of season you may find them at the base of the tree. Find the metal plate with the no.s inscribed on it. USING THE DIGITS ON THE PLATE, calculate the co-ordinates of the next waypoint. The incomplete co-ordinates are---
S36 44.000 E174 45.000

Calculate as follows---SOUTH
1st no.--add first 2 digits together------
2nd no.--last digit-----------------------
3rd no.--middle digit---------------------
CHECK- These three digits should total---------11
EAST---
1st no.--add digits up & use the
last digit of the sum-----------------------------
2nd no.--add first 2 digits plus the middle digit--
3rd no.--last digit minus the middle digit---------
CHECK- These three digits should add up to------------10
Whew,my heads spinning already & I know the answers!

1/ Now you are ready to embark-ahem!on your way to the next tree, bygum, (no more calculus, just waypoints) which happens to be a T tree.At that point, find the micro (film can)with camo in the Manuka which is in the clear by itself

2/ Found it?,you are now ready to leaf for the next tree which is a Pohutukawa. The cache is not in the tree.It is secured by 2 screws.

3/ Got it? you poor saps; the next tree is a Sheoke, look for GZ above JL,in the tree again, NOT, on the ground. Another film container & you guessed, with camo.

4/look for bottom of ladder.

5/ Not long to go,kids, this time we are looking for another gum tree with micro ( bit bigger this time) which contains the co-ordinates for the final.Watch for Wetas (closely related to the Driers--indoor variety, ahem!)they love to inhabit gum trees as I discovered as a boy when trapped up a tree with wetas everywhere.Dont be put off, they are mainly harmless, they just look bad.
The cache lid is attached to the tree, just pop the container off, read the co-ordinates & pop the container back on the lid.Thanks.

6/ Whew, finally at the last tree which happens to be a macrocarpa -you probably twigged to this, and this specimen is climbable as well.

CACHE CONTENTS---local Arachnid (large,so dont feed)PLEASE DONT TAKE as he lives here for the enjoyment of other visitors as well as keeping the local mozzies down
