Lewis the Woodpecker Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

TwoScots: This old cache had a good run, but we've decided to retire it. It was one of our first caches and not well constructed or well hidden. We're surprised it lasted so long.

Geocache Description:

The cache is located near the McGaffey Campground.

The Forest Service runs this beautiful campground southeast of Gallup, NM. In addition to campers, the area is also inhabited by a very unique species of bird, the Lewis Woodpecker. They are frequently observed from the campground roadways. For pictures and information check out the website from Cornell University at:

The cache is a large plastic nut jar with some disguise. It should be easy to find with a short uphill walk from the campground area.
