Geocache Description:

The cache is located on the SW edge of Haughmond hill overlooking Shrewsbury. The walk to the cache is easy but beware the last 20 foot which is a small rock face. Make sure you walk around and down and look after any children. Its called Nettle Rash after the effects of my first visit exploring the hillside! Please make sure that you hide the cache again after finding it as the area is well used.

The best place to start from is the forest car park at
N52 deg 43.671 W002 deg 40.397. Here there is a map of the hill showing series of walks - the blue route takes you almost to the cache!.
The forest is a mature mixed woodland managed by the Forestry Commision and is laid out with trails for walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders. When I planted the cache the forest was alive with birdsong and bluebells and is a wonderful place to visit.
As this cache is the first to be placed locally on a Forestry Commision site I would ask all to respect their rules and take care not to damage anything. Please see (visit link)
for details of the rules.
The cache is in a large ammo box. Please re-hide carefully as the vegetation is now a little thin!
I do hope you like this cache - the hill is one of my favourite local spots for walking. After finding the cache make sure you go North along the edge and look at both the great views and the Iron age fort. Lastly many thanks to the forestry commision for letting me place the cache here.
