This place is one of the first of many landing sites along the Red River where steamboats stopped to let settlers off to start new lives on the prairies. There are many landings like this one along the Red River but most do not exist anymore. Four generations later, some of the same families descended from these first settlers are still farming on the prairies today around where this landing site is and many other similar landings throughout the Red River Valley.

The above co-ordinates are for a monument. On the monument, you must find the information to calculate the final cache co-ordinates as follows:

Final cache co-ordinates: N49 35.2AB W097 08.2CD

A = number of letters in the first word on monument minus five

B = second digit of the year the first settlers landed at this site minus two

C = the number of letters in the name of the steamboat minus thirteen

D = the number of miles settlers travelled east to the reception houses plus two

Bring your fishing rods as this is a great place to fish and a little CITO wouldn't hurt as annual flood waters float many things into this area.

Congrats to MLKoop for being FTF and following the same route these settlers took so long ago and for sharing the FTF prise!

Didn't know this was here, thanks for the history lesson. Mosquitos were not a concern on this windy day.

Made note of a camping site near stage one. Managed to drive right up and stay in the car while getting the information. Quickly found stage 2. Traded a kinder toy for an Egyptian Paperweight. TFTC

Thanks for bringing us to this area that we didn't really knew existed. The monument was very informative and we wished we could have stopped for awhile but the nasty mosquitos won. TNLN SL 5th of 6 today.
