Please archive this cache IMMEDIATELY. It is within the boundaries of a significant archaeological site.
In addition, a cacher using NAD 27 instead of NAD83, dismantled a pre-historic rock cairn and dug a hole at another archaeological site while searching for a cache that was not there.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Geocache Description:

This cache is a tribute to Bb2 and was placed on her due date. It is placed on a hillside down the trail past the Morteros in the Anza-Borrego desert.

The Morteros in Blair Valley were used for almost a thousand years by the Kumeyaay Indians on a seasonal basis. From September to May the Kumeyaay used the village site as a base to gather pinon nuts, mesquite beans, and desert agave. The nuts and seeds were pounded into meal using the morteros and rock pestles. During the summer months, the Kumeyaay would travel west into the mountains avoiding the desert heat.

Although we are sure there was plenty of work to do, we imagine this was a happy place with kids running around playing on the hill sides under their mother's watch. The tribe has gone, but there is a sense of peace in the valley. If you take a moment to sit down and close your eyes, we are sure you will feel it as well.
