Geocache Description:

A straightforward cache; handy if you are in the area tackling any of the other local caches: Old Shaw & Nine Elms Stroll (GC118C2), Peatmoor Lagoon (GCV7W8) and Shaw Forest Park (GCV8Z8).
The trail can get muddy in very wet weather. Wellies recommended.

Washpool is so named because long ago it was the site of a large, natural pool. Locals brought their livestock along in spring to be dipped to rid their coats of dirt and insects.

Parking is at N51 34.399 W001 50 682 just inside North Wiltshire. If you cross over the road you will be back in Swindon! Take care: the roads are not particularly busy, but have no footpaths.

If you want a slightly longer walk, or just prefer fields to paths, you can approach from the other end along the Millennium Trail. The Trail was opened by the Mayor in June 2000, and runs for 30 miles around Swindon and the countryside to the south and west. (It takes in Lydiard Park and Coate Water, which currently conceal two caches apiece.)

Park at N51 34.667 W001 51.096, and please keep to the trail.
Whichever route you choose, it will only take 5-10 minutes to reach the cache.
Please re-hide well.
