Geocache Description:

It's time for another geocaching class. This will be the 6th year we have put on these classes for the St. Louis County Parks Department.

This series of geocaching seminars has been well received in the past by both the public and the County Parks system and in turn, everyone can benefit from this activity.
If you recently purchased a GPS or have a co-worker or friend who has a GPS, mention this class and bring them along.

This program will be held Saturday, October 11th 2008, 10AM - 3PM, at the Learning Center (indoors and AC/heat, if necessary) in Greensfelder County Park, located behind 6 Flags in Eureka. For those that haven't been here, it's a beautiful and rugged park, with lots of trails, picnic tables, creeks, steep hills and rocky bluffs. There are almost no open, flat areas, and currently there are approximately 18 permanent caches in the park and surrounding area, or about a 2 miles radius of the learning center. The program is scheduled to start at the Learning Center at 10 AM. We will have a PowerPoint presentation, along with sample caches, contents, log books, etc, and other geocaching items to display. After the indoor session, we will go outside where we can break up into small groups to learn about using a GPS for geocaching, locating caches, and other related questions.

Laptops will be provided to transfer waypoints to the GPS's as needed using EasyGPS. Some cables will be provided (Garmin and Magellan), but to be safe, it might be wise to bring your own cable. This session is scheduled to be finished by 3PM.

You may want to bring a sandwich or go to one of the restaurants in Eureka, about 2 miles away. We usually end up at El Nopal in Eureka after the class for anyone that wants to join us. As before, SLAGA will provide ice, soda, and water.

Mark your calendar for October 11th and plan on attending. We will provide GPS's for those that don't own a GPS so we can provide hands on as necessary.
If you know anyone that has an interest in learning about geocaching or has a GPS, be sure to tell them about this event.
Registration must be done in advance through the County Parks. The reservation number is 314-615-4386 and there is a $10 fee.

This registration and fee does not apply to SLAGA members who are helping out with the event.
