Know how to find a geocache? Know how to hide a geocache? Great! Now learn some advanced geocaching techniques to reach that next level of caching enjoyment.

  • WHAT: Geocaching 201 - Beyond the Basics (Paperless Caching, Map Resources & Other Geocaching Software Tools)
  • WHEN: Saturday, June 16, 2007 from 10 AM until Noon
  • WHERE: The Library Center (in the auditorium) - 4653 South Campbell, Springfield, Missouri
This class will be chock-full of information for the beginning, intermediate, or advanced geocacher. You will DEFINITELY want to bring a notebook! We will discuss the following topics (and probably more):

Paperless Caching:

  • Pocket Queries
  • Caching Along a Route (using Google Earth)
  • Paperless Caching Software and Procedures
  • GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)
  • CacheMate (for the Palm)
  • Exporting caches to your Palm/PDA

  • Mapping software for your GPS

  • Charley Britton (GEO*TrailBlazer 1) of Cassville, Missouri - Travel bugs, Geocoins, and Waymarking
  • Rob Fridge (NixaDudes) of Nixa, Missouri - Using GSAK to generate cache statistics for your Geocaching.com profile page
  • Alan (DaKender) of Ash Grove, Missouri - Paperless caching with your cell phone
  • Rudy Martinez, Assistant Manager of The Nature Center (Missouri Department of Conservation), will give a presentation on Hazards in the Wild to watch out for while geocaching
