You will need a 4WD vehicle, ATV, or motorcycle to get to this
cache, and it is available only when the snow has melted. However,
you will be richly rewarded for your efforts with breathtaking
views of the River Of No return Wilderness, and The Salmon
River.
Smith's Knob is the site of a Forest Fire Lookout. As such, it
qualifies for the
Idaho Forest Fire Lookout Challenge. The building is still
there, but it is no longer staffed.
