Notice
This cache has had a nice run with a lot of finds, but will be retired on August 30th or 31st.
Cache updated on 4/21/02.
Fifty-Six logged finds in four months make this by far our most found cache! It must be the prime location. All that traffic has had some affects. The original hiding spot was not so hidden anymore, and the logbook was almost full. We replaced the logbook and added a few more items to the cache. The cache has also been relocated to a better hiding spot. It is once again well hidden! The coordinates on the cache page have been updated; however, like so many hunters have stated, the GPS reception was poor this evening. I averaged several readings, but would appreciate input on what coordinates you get for the cache. To help I have given a much more detailed hint.
This is our contribution to the I-5 series. In this case, we hate the road that brought us here, but the location is our favorite stop between Seattle and Portland. The cache is located in a large rest area that offers quite a bit of diversion from the boredom of driving for hours and hours. You can learn of local history, picnic, partake of the free coffee or cocoa, or stroll for a few minutes through the trees.
Of course, since this is Western Washington, it also comes with a good deal of mud for half the year; however, if you choose you path carefully you can make it to the cache cleanly. Just like the freeway traffic, the number of people within sight of the cache can vary. The cache is well hidden (I hope) to avoid accidental discovery. It is a medium sized Rubbermaid container wrapped in a black garbage bag. If you think like a cache (or use the hint) you shouldn't have too much trouble. The original contents include a range of items for adults and kids. One last word of advice: The cache is not beyond the fence.
6/13/02 - It has come to our attention that the woods of this rest stop have become somewhat littered by individuals engaging in inappropriate activities for a public place and cachers may want to consider the possibility of finding such items before searching for this cache. We will be checking the site to determine if it is still an appropriate location for a cache by the end of June.
