Geocache Description:

WWFM IX

World Wide Flash Mob #9

(You might want to add this event to your "watchlist" for late-breaking announcements.)

I am hosting this caching event at The Dairy Freez in Northridge to bring together geocachers and to introduce new people to the hobby. We will converge in the parking lot of the Dairy Freez and spend a few minutes showing the crowd banners and "picket signs" held up high with geocaching logos.

A Flash Mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, do something unusual for a brief period of time, and then quickly disperse.

This is a part of the World Wide Flash Mob IX occurring simultaneously around the globe organized by Team PodCacher. Check out a list of all of the other scheduled WWFM IX events that will occur simultaneously around the world.

You've heard of geocaching mega-events? This is quite the opposite in a variety of ways. It is sort of like a micro event, but with many of these events occuring world wide all at the same time. Flash Mobs have also gathered for other reasons, besides Geocaching (http://tinyurl.com/7qpml). Come be part of this historic event! Only 15 minutes long! You MUST be present and sign the log sheet DURING this time to claim the event. Please BYOP! (Bring your own pen)

The "2" difficulty is for the fact that the limited time will make it tough to log if you aren't prompt and diligent... You MUST be present and sign a log sheet DURING this time to claim the event. Also, First To Find bragging rights will be awarded to the first person to sign the logbook.

Do not show up prior to 1:00 PM! Park nearby and slowly walk up towards the parking lot, and be mindful of traffic on Talbot Road. For the Flash Mob to have its full effect, we must appear to come from nowhere and disappear just as quickly. Please approach the parking lot just before 1:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time (Kingsville GPS Time) on Saturday, June 9th. At exactly 1:00 PM, rush to the posted coordinates with your banners, signs, gps receivers held up high, etc.

At precisely 1:15 PM, disperse! and the event officially will be over. Hide your banners; lower your signs; put away your gps receivers; and quickly leave the area. This is how a Flash Mob works.

If any muggles are curious about the event, please take the time to introduce them to Geocaching.
( example fliers ) If YOU are new to geocaching, check out the FAQs page.

We hope to gather a "good showing" of cachers at this event. Tell your friends and help promote the event. Bring them along, they do not have to be geocachers to enjoy the Flash Mob.
