The island is about 12 miles off of Ensenada Mexico. The island is a bird sanctuary and nesting area. The primary birds are Laughing Gulls, Cormorants, and Pelicans. If you visit the island from mid-May to July, please try not to disturb the nests (they are everywhere). Be especially careful in late June when the fledglings are out of the nest yet unable to fly. A simple walk during this time will run a fledgling away from its two-meter nest range and often cause it to be attacked by nearby nesters.
This island is sacred. If you visit, please be respectful and keep this jewel pure. Walk softly.
I kayak to the island from La Bufadora (7.5 US statute miles). Any water transport would get you there. The island is really two islands with a channel between them. The cache is on the southern island. The best and closest landing to the cache is the northeast corner, in the small eastern facing cove. The cache is a shoebox size plastic container not far from this cove.
