Tablecloth or Cloth on the Lords'Table. The cloth is made of concrete and on the table concrete silos line up like huge china figures. A memento of long-gone times in the middle of Pilis mountains, where life took me three times.
First in my age of 10, when my honoured and beloved teacher and her husband, namely the Kovács couple took us here on a school excursion. We fried bacon, played football and enjoyed nature on the Lords' Table.
Second I climbed up with my 9-year-old son in April 1982 to take a look from the wooden lookout tower. The tower did not exist anymore, barbed wire and watch towers guarded the Table instead. We turned back to the clearing, where the sentinel caught and took me to the guard house left from the entrance. They made record of the case, took out the film from my camera and threatened me that next time I came here, they would...
Third time yesterday, when I walked up here in beautiful sunshine among bushes of ripening dewberry and meeting wondering deer. The guard house still stands, although in ruins. We have found the silos, the staging ground, the training site, all in ruins. And they make us remember. Remember of the times when huge part of the country's money ran through the "fingers" of Hungarian People's Army, when we in our age of 18 spent long months isolated from the world on rocket-, signal-, locator- etc. headquarters.
However, the cloth remained on the Lords' Table. May this cache remind us all of the senseless nature destruction going on for decades in the name of home-defense.
The cache can be approached from Visegrád with a 5 km walk. It is also an ideal biker-cache. It worth walking in silence, for deer can often be met on the way.
