Warning

Please note: To use the services of geocaching.com, you must agree to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

This cache is located along a very scenic section of the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. This part of the trail is fairly level, but can be rocky in places, so good hiking shoes are recommended. The cache is hidden within sight of the trail, so please be careful of other hikers. Once you have found the cache, continue a little further down the trail to see some more interesting "rock hallways!"
The Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail is 70 miles long and goes from Ohiopyle, Pa to Seward, Pa. There are over night shelter areas located every 8 or 10 miles. For more information, go to (visit link)

Trailhead parking is available off of Route 271 at N40-16.895' W79-02.980. Follow the access trail, marked with blue blazes, from the parking area to the main trail, which is marked with yellow blazes. Be careful not to take the trail branch to the shelter area. This should provide a round trip hike of between 2 and 3 miles.

For a slightly shorter hike, alternate parking is available on the SOUTH side of Route 271, across from the Laurel Mountain Summit sign at N40-16.592' W79-03.497'. Parking on this side of the road will give you better visibility when you leave. The main trail crosses the road at N40-16.635' W79-03.353', but you will need to be careful walking along this traffic. This can be made into a loop hike by continuing south along the main trail until it crosses the gas line and returning to the car via the gas line.

Initial contents of the cache, which is an ammo can, are of a ‘crafty' nature, as Linda works for a craft store. Also, if you have a favorite scripture...please share it with us. Have fun!

Introduced a young family in our church to geocaching today. We dropped off a new travel bug, the holy cow. Beautiful day for a hike cache was in good condition.

We used the state game lands parking coordinates that were listed in the cache description (it was foggy and raining and we needed to make it as short of a hike as possible today). It was quite a hike in though, and much more secluded than we thought it would be. Thanks! #121

*I originally found this cache using the caching name “JS63007”. I now have my own account and wanted to note the find under my new name, too.

We found a gecoin in this cache. It was not logged to that cache and was never logged as having left its last cache "Turnpike Closeup: New and Improved" (GC17E4T) by the person who put it there, so they don't have it in their inventory to drop in the new cache where we found it. I contacted the owner about this situation. Therefore, I'm going to place it in the cache that I found it in and then retrieve it from there so that it may log the miles. Then, I will have it moving on its way again.

We used the state game lands parking coordinates that were listed in the cache description (it was foggy and raining and we needed to make it as short of a hike as possible today). It was quite a hike in though, and much more secluded than we thought it would be. Watch all of the holes and crevices in the rocks when you get to the cache site...it looks like a great place for animals to be hiding and the weather gets colder!!! We did not see the AVGraphics' King Watchung Tiki Event Geocoin that is supposed to linked to this cache, but we did find a different geocoin that was not logged to this cache (in fact, it's been missing since April, so I notified the owner that we have it and to determine the best way to proceed with it). Thanks! #121

what a gorgeous trail. my mom, my boyfriend and I really enjoyed the easy hike through the hallways. everything's covered in moss, so it makes for lots of nice comfy places to sit and enjoy the scenery. also, about 200 yards from GZ is a huge boulder jutting out over a ravine, we called it pride rock, and hung out up there for a while. saw a few other hikers, it seems to be a well traveled trail. the container and contents were in perfect condition, I signed the log, my boyfriend took the bath fizzys :P and my mom took a tiny purple carabiner. we left a couple toys. thanks for the cache!

ps - your link about the trail isn't working, here's an updated one! I plan on hiking much more of this trail in the upcoming autumn :)
