This event is in memory of our friend and fellow cacher, Billzjeep. The event will be from 2-5 PM on April 25th. We will be cleaning up the banks of Tollgate Creek. We will be meeting at this location and working our way south along the creek banks. If enough people show up, we can have two groups of people working both sides of the creek.
Parks and Open Space will supply the trash bags. We will leave all of our trash in a designated area and Parks and Open Space will have their trucks haul it away on Monday morning.
The coordinates are for a parking lot that Parks and Open Space says we can use. The parking lot is in a semi-vacant shopping center right next to the trail.
Please keep in mind that this is not a traditional park. We will be walking along the Tollgate Trail and cleaning the banks of Tollgate Creek. This area is not risky or dangerous. The trail along the creek is paved but the banks of the creek slope slightly and there is some overgrowth. There are no picnic shelter/park benches in the immediate area so please plan accordingly.
The Aurora Parks ranger that I have been working with is also going to show up for our event. He will be there to answer questions and he says he is going to help us out with our cleanup.
A friend of mine hosts several charity events throughout the year in and around Aurora. She has been most generous and donated a bunch of "goody bags". These bags have all kinds of little gifts inside and we will be handing them out at the event.
This is the first CITO event I (Imajika) have organized (with some help from my friends!). Indygo, Perinowski and I volunteered to coordinate the event at the CACHE March meeting. If anyone has questions or suggestions, please email me. We hope to see everyone there and make this event a huge success!
