This ammo box cache is located at the trailhead of a very popular hike--the hike to Summit Lake. This cache is mainly a drive-to type cache with very little walking involved.
The dirt road that leads to the cache is a little rough and vegetation can touch the side of your vehicle on the way up there. We'd recommend a high-clearance vehicle for this trip.
Elevation here is approximately 4400 feet so it will probably not be accessible in the winter.
UPDATE AS OF 8/8/05: rocketglider informed me that there are now new signs that have been posted requiring that people who park in the parking lot here have a Northwest Forest Pass.
