Geocache Description:

Please join us for the 2nd Annual Tucson Geocaching Extravaganza at Morris K. Udall Park on Saturday, December 4, 2004. The above coordinates will get you to the proper area of the park.

Rain or shine – we can meet, play some games, swap travel bugs, exchange tales of geocaching adventures and more!

THE MAIN ACTIVITY

Geocache Rally Hunt: All participants will gather at the above coordinates at 10:00 a.m. The ground rules will be explained and a list of coordinates will be handed out to each team. After the briefing, all teams will begin the rally at the same time and find as many caches as they can before returning to the start point by 2:00 p.m. While participants eat lunch and visit, the results of the hunt will be tabulated by the judges. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. Additional prizes will be awarded for special accomplishments.

OTHER PLANNED ACTIVITIES:

  • This is the spot: Not a contest, just an interesting exercise where each team will be given a flag marker and a set of coordinates. You place your flag at the spot where you say the coordinates are located. Kind of puts things in perspective as to how everyone can get slightly different locations for a cache.
  • Build a travel bug: Bring a standard original Lego™ block (you can bring more than one), add your block(s) to the existing structure to help create a travel bug.
  • Commemorative cache: Bring something to place in a special cache to be assembled to commemorate the picnic and hidden after the event. There will be a special drawing to determine who gets to hide this cache!
  • Travel bug exchange: Bring any travel bug that you would like to exchange. Another geocacher in attendance may be able to help that bug reach its’ goal.

PARK ACTIVITIES: Plenty of grassy areas where we can play games, so feel free to bring any lawn games you like – Frisbees, soccer balls, and so on. There are nearby play areas for the kids.

Make sure to bring your own picnic basket of goodies and drinks to feed your team!

HOPE WE SEE YOU THERE!!
