The location is at Selden Neck State Park. We chose this location
because we met at the Selden Neck Canoe/Kayak Event which was held
on 09/27/2003. (Too bad Wing-it can’t be there to give the bride
away )
This is a 5 terrain event . . . not particularly kid friendly .
. . you will need a canoe, kayak or small watercraft to get to the
event.
The Main Event is not going to be anything fancy .
. . just a nice casual event to enjoy and share with those who
helped bring us together, doing the activity that brought us
together (not that!!) .
Camping is available on the island. We have reserved the
Hogback and Springledge Camp Areas. Camping
at the Springledge Camp Area is by invitation only, but the
Hogback site is available on a first come, first serve basis
(there are approximately 14 sites available). There are other
campsites available on the island if you wish to make separate
reservations (permits must be obtained in advance). There are
also riverside camping areas at Gillette
Castle State Park and Hurd State
Park.
Parking and launching are up for grabs. Please use the public
launch at Deep River Landing (N41*23.725 / W072*25.594) which is
free for launching, however there may be a $10.00 parking fee. (we
have not seen anyone there to collect the money) Another location
is at both sides of the river where the Hadlyme Ferry connects
Rt.148. The west side has very limited space but the east side has
lots of room. If you are coming from the west and want to park on
the east you will have to take the Ferry across the river (the
hours are from 10:30 till 5:00). Another way to get to the east
side of the river is at the Goodspeed Bridge on Rt. 82, which is 5
miles north of Deep River and Selden Neck. There is also a boat
launch at the Salmon River State Boat Launch. Located at mouth of
Salmon River off Route 149, 1.5 miles north of junction with Route
82. Parking for 60 cars. About 4 miles upriver.

There is a travel bug that was placed in our honor that wants to
make it back in time for the event. This one, too!
