Activities
include a round table with some folks from the Ohio Department of Natural
Resources, including Deputy Dog. We will have a chance to see what Geocaching
looks like from the perspective of the parks and land managers. If it
is anything like the session at the Midwest GeoBash, it will leave you
wanting to place caches in all sorts of parks with permits and rules.
We hope to convince a Volunteer Cache Reviewer or ten to join us to help
explain how the listings of caches in State owned property benefits from
the permit system in place in Ohio.
Also on
tap is a tour of Stratford Ecological Center and their working Organic
and Sustainable Farm. Also an explanation of programs throughout the state
and the land that they tend in the south section of Delaware. Those who
have experienced EIEIO already have a sneek peek of the center, but there
is more to explore.
Ohio GeoCoins
will be delivered at the event and awards for the Summer LCC contest will
be presented formally. The new rules will also be discussed.
If enough
children are attending, we'll even put on a scavenger hunt around the
farm and through the trails along the run. Please let us know if children
are coming with you.
Campers
are welcome to join around our Base Camp at Delaware State Park in Section
4 (or D on the maps), but Alum Creek State Park is also very close. From
Base Camp, there will be some geocaching tours or "Cache Machines"
leaving on Sunday. Details can be found at Geocache Ohio.
More details
can be gotten at the Geocache Ohio Forums or from any of the Ohio groups.
While intended to be an Ohio Gathering, all cachers are welcome to attend.
