CINCO POKER RUN!
Poker run at 3:00
Dinner at 5:00
The cache co-ordinates are for Arni's Restaurant at Market
Square in Lafayette, which is where we will be meeting for a nice
warm dinner on a cold January evening. Before that, however,
we will be having a little bit of fun. We've never done a
poker run before, but we've read about them and wanted to try
one. Here's how the event will run:
There will be 5 temporary event caches placed in the
Lafayette/West Lafayette area. Each cache will contain
numbered, sealed envelopes, each with one card in them. For
example, all the envelopes in cache #1 will have the number 1 on
the envelope. Your mission is to find each cache, remove 1
envelope from that cache and bring all 5 of your sealed envelopes
to the dinner. Your envelopes must still be sealed (so we
know you didn't peek at all the envelopes in the cache to get a
specific card) and you cannot have more than 1 envelope with the
same number on it (so we know you didn't just go to the first cache
and take 5 envelopes). Not that any of you would even think
of doing such a thing. J
Please note that this is NOT a race - there is no
benefit to being first-to-find on any of the event caches. We
don't want anyone trying to rush around town in winter
weather. Also, all the caches will either be drive-up or a
short walk, so hopefully everyone can participate. The poker
run will begin at 3:00 at:
N 40°
24.974 W 086° 48.798
These co-ords should take you to the northwest corner (behind
the gas station) of the Meijer parking lot near the intersection of
I-65 and SR-26. You will be looking for Mr. Car54 (picture on
our profile page) and our cache-mobile (gray Tundra double-cab
pickup). He will give you the short list of rules and the
co-ordinates to the 5 caches. You'll want to be there no
later than 3:30, 'cause that's all the longer he'll be there.
You should have plenty of time to hit all 5 event caches and maybe
even some other local caches before meeting everyone at Arni's for
dinner.
We will be awarding a Hoosier geo-coin to the holder of the best
poker hand and another prize for the worst poker hand.
Please give us a headcount for dinner or Arni's won't be able to
save a room for us. Hope to see you there! (Oops - almost
forgot - this cache was placed as part of the Coin Quest game.)
