Kontulan hiidenkivi
Kontulan hiidenkivi on kulkeutunut kätköpaikalle melkoisen
kaukaa, merellisten jäälohkareiden suistamana, sijoiltaan, mutta
mistä ja koska? Menemällä paikalle se selviää. Kuten sanontakin
kuuluu, Vesihiisi sihisi hississä. Kätköpaikan lähistöllä ei tosin
ole Vesihiisiä, mutta hissejä kylläkin.
Tehtävänäsi on ottaa selville seuraavat asiat:
- Mistä hiidenkivi on alkujaan kotoisin?
- Kuinka suuri se on? Mittaa tai arvioi pituus, leveys ja
korkeus.
omistajalle.
- Merkitse kätkö löydetyksi ja liitä ottamasi kuva lokiisi
mukaan.

Hiidenkivistä yleensä
Hiidenkivi on iso hioutunut kivi, joka on maastossa melko
korkealla paikalla merenpinnasta katsottuna. Hiidenkivet ovat
hioneet ja kuljettaneet paikoilleen jääkauden aikainen mannerjää.
Heikomman kiviaineksen alueilla siirtolohkareet voivat olla paljon
hioutuneempia ja sileämpiä kuin useimmat Suomen hiidenkivet.
Erratic boulders in general
An erratic boulder is a huge refined block that is situated
somewhere quite high above the current sea level. They have been
moved and rubbed by the glacial period ice cap. In the softer rock
material areas the erratic boulders may be a lot polished and
smoother ones than the most erratic boulders that reside in
Finland.
