This cache has one of my favorite outdoor experiences associated with it!
After taking a wrong turn at the intersection (but seeing some gorgeous fall reds as a result), I made my way down the correct path. A gigantic woodpecker was perched on a tree next to the path. It flew away. I remembered that I'd recently purchased the Audubon app for the iphone, so I brought it up and did a quick search. It appeared to be a Pileated Woodpecker, so I started playing some bird calls. It responded! Another bird call and it flew across the path in front of me! I stood on the path for probably five minutes playing bird calls and listening to the woodpecker respond. A great experience!
But, on to the cache! I saw where I needed to leave the trail, but there was a couple coming down the path toward me. So, I overshot it and did some backtracking after I determined they were not fellow geocachers. I made my way to GZ, and made the find. What a neat spot! I also managed to get a great picture of a flower drinking up that meadow sun!
