Found it Tygress found Good ol' Rocky Top

Monday, September 05, 2011Texas

Found ourselves out seeking Rocky Top
Out for some geocache thrills
Ain't no giveaway that Rocky Top
Gonna pay some GeoSense bills

Say there is a cache at Rocky Top
But the trick is to find where it's at
Makes your searching eyes strain and maybe pop
And to get it you need be half cat

Rocky Top -- where might you be
Want your smile for me
Good Ol' Rocky Top
Gonna git you, you'll see
Gonna git you, you'll see

So four cachers scoured Rocky Top
A-Lookin' for a micro cache
Up and down and all round Rocky Top
This was no searching dash

Ain't no lizard lives on Rocky Top
Could have 'scaped our desire
Read the logs -- ok this is a better spot
To git this we are on fire

Rocky Top -- where might you be
Want your smile for me
Good Ol' Rocky Top
Gonna git you, you'll see
Gonna git you, you'll see

New coords and 'cross the crick we go
Ain't but a bathtub of water
This ol' drought's sapped ev'rybody's aqua flow
Hard to imagine it hotter

Up and down and over and round we seek
At last the angle is right
The grab made Waterweasel's knees go weak
But that log's a beautiful sight.

Rocky Top -- where might you be
Want your smile for me
Good Ol' Rocky Top
Gonna git you, you'll see
Gonna git you, you'll see

Yeah we'll make the break from daily droll
Just so logs feel our pen
Add our names to Rocky Top's honor roll
Prob' won't be round here again.

Rocky Top -- where might you be
Want your smile for me
Good Ol' Rocky Top
Gonna git you, you'll see
Went and GOT you, yup, see?

So where the coords zeroed out, Waterweasel searched up, the rest of us searched down (handy, if somewhat distressing to have a DRY crick). Not a sign, though lots of places that varmint could be holed up. Ok. Read the logs fer a nudge in a better direction. Lignumaqua's put up alternate coords. Try those. Hmmmm, those take us to the far side of the creek. Give 'er a try. Up, down, back, forth, then... what about that? =pointing= Reach down. To the right. To the left. There. Waterweasel moves the directed object. I do believe that is plastic back in there. Acclanman agrees.
Waterweasel informs us he cain't reach. Coward.
This is why there's a Tygress along (though he was sure I was gonna fall and git killt... I was fine). Yup That's a cache.
Find, sign, and feelin' fine!

No question, this is a tough little booger -- but it's impossible when GZ is 40 feet off and on the wrong side of the creek. You might want to update those coords, por favors. Lignumaqua's posted coords (apparently your original coords??? N 30° 04.706 W 097° 51.117 ) were SPOT on.

Team WATT (Waterweasel, acclanman, TreyB, & Tygress) finds a memorable one on acclanman's 10K milestone day!

infoThis is the original cache type consisting, at a bare minimum, a container and a log book. Normally you'll find a tupperware container, ammo box, or bucket filled with goodies, or smaller container ("micro cache") too small to contain items except for a log book. The coordinates listed on the traditional cache page is the exact location for the cache.
