My first geocache hunt. I live nearby, so my (7 months pregnant!) wife and I tromped up Mt. Maguire with a borrowed GPS receiver to see if our suspicions about the location were right. When we got to our goal, the GPS unit told us we were still 200 metres away, all of it brush. Already at my wife's limit, we went home in defeat. I came back a few days later to scrabble through those last 200 metres, but ended up looking down a bluff with more trees below. Finally, on my third trip out, I took the Luke Skywalker approach, switched off the technology and searched near our original hunch. Success! Not sure what was wrong with my GPS unit, but I no longer minded. I'd forgotten the poison frog toy I'd planned to bring, so I only admired the contents of the box and signed the log.

 | This is the original cache type consisting, at a bare minimum, a container and a log book. Normally you'll find a tupperware container, ammo box, or bucket filled with goodies, or smaller container ("micro cache") too small to contain items except for a log book. The coordinates listed on the traditional cache page is the exact location for the cache. |
