970(+9=979) about 12:25pmAn iconic cache on an historic occasion. The FFFTF (Frozen First Female 2 Find) led the way triumphantly to the cache and was then rewarded with a dig through 6 to 8 inches of snow to get to the ammo box. And Matt was doing a 1300 milestone. It was great to have the company and the time passed quickly.
Like Mrs W, when I first started, I too had never believed that I could do this cache. I suppose I have slowly worked my fitness and bush confidence up since then.
This morning when we were parked at the front gate of Tidbinbilla, the weather was beautiful and warm. The clouds were looking a little ominous just behind the range and I was still optimistic. Fortunately we were all prepared with appropriate clothing because I now have no credibility with "I think the weather will hold..." Falling snow, snow on the ground and wind on the ridge at least made us feel like we were as hardcore as the last assault team (except we did it in 6.5 hr)
What we lacked in scenic views, we more than made up for with adventure adventure adventure. Tip: Straight over St John's peak is a great and easy way to go. We glimpsed some awesome drops and cliffs along the way.
Well I could blog on and on but I think the others have covered it.
Awesome!
