MiA Series, #3: 1970 Dodge Super Bee

The recent economic downturn has pushed the American Automotive industry to the brink of extinction. This series of Travel Bugs commemorates a sample of the vehicles produced in the industry’s heyday. Dodge introduced the Super Bee in 1968 as a budget muscle car. It was based on the Coronet pillared coupe. The 1970 Super Bee came standard with a 335 horsepower 383 cubic inch V8, base priced at $3,012. An optional 426 cubic inch 390 horsepower Hemi was available. Also available was the 440 Magnum engine, featuring 3 two barrel Holley carburetors. 15,500 vehicles were produced in 1970, the last year that the Super Bee would be based on the Coronet. Switched to the Charger platform in 1971, the Super Bee would be discontinued after that year.
