You've found an orange proxy (stand-in) tag for one of the cutest geocoins EVER!
I wanted kids (of all ages) to find this, covet for a few days, then drop in a new cache for someone else to enjoy. I did't care how many miles it went - I cared how many geocachers got to find and enjoy it. Unfortunately my gold monkey was taken from his starting cache and never appeared again. So as a way for you to enjoy the original, you've been directed here by the hitchhiker tag. I know it's not as cool as holding the monkey in your hand, but hopefully you've enjoyed finding it!
Barrel of Monkeys is a toy game first created by Lakeside Toys in 1965. Today it is produced by the Milton Bradley Company. The barrel contains 12 monkeys. The instructions on the bottom of the barrel state "Dump monkeys onto table. Pick up one monkey by an arm. Hook other arm through a second monkey's arm. Continue making a chain. Your turn is over when a monkey is dropped." These Monkeys have also been used for modeling of polyhedral structures, including virus particles and other protein structures [2] In brief, a pair of monkeys can hook around each other in more than eighty different ways, forming quite stable links. The links may be either symmetrical or asymmetrical. Repetition of an asymmetric link generates a helix. A symmetric link is self limiting, so that the structure cannot grow further unless a new link is used to join symmetric pairs. That comes from Wikipedia - who knew a barrel of monkeys could be so scientific!

Picked this one up from Watching The Doctor Turn 50. We have to agree - the intended geocoin is cute indeed! It's a shame about its disappearance. We'll move this on one shortly, thanks!
