Before we ever started geocaching, our family's woodland hikes took us in search of the Little People, better known as leprechauns. We investigated every interesting nook and cranny the forest had to offer: mazes of tree roots, rotted out trunks, crevices in rocks, even behind waterfalls. We conducted research, learning various names and associated folklore for Little People around the world. We hypothesized ways to coax Little People to show themselves, and even designed and built traps. (No Little People were harmed as part of this research.) After testing many theories, we found that Little People do in fact like shiny metal such as gold. We learned that leprechauns don't LEAVE a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. These pot of gold are in fact TRAPS to catch leprechauns who can't resist such shiny splendor. While we don't advocate trapping or catching Little People, we do encourage you to hide this "Golden Carrot" in a cache somewhere Little People might live so that you might catch a glimpse of these wonderous creatures! And if you can, email us a pic of your chosen site, tell us why you chose it, and whether or not the Golden Carrot worked so that we can publish the information in the second volume of our field journal. Thanks, and happy hunting!
