Linda (age 5) would like Mr. Potato Head Bug to visit EVERY park in the World. This is a big, big job. You can take him on airplanes with you to visit parks. He starts from "Girlie Girlie", Linda's 2nd cache.

Mr. Potato Head Bug likes to dance around, act silly, and visit other travel bugs. We like to read the travel bug logs out loud, so please, please tell us a funny story about when you were little when you pick up Mr. Potato Head Bug.

We will start with a funny story - Linda started going to the office with her Daddy when she was just three weeks old. We had toys, formula, diapers, and a playpen at the office just for her to go hang out. One night, when Linda wasn't even 1 year old yet, she got down on the floor to scoot around and play. Daddy wasn't used to Linda crawling around yet, so he worked on the computer for a while and didn't notice that Little Baby Linda had crawled into another office. She found a folder on the floor, pulled out a check for $7,117,000.00 and chewed it up. Most expensive teething ring ever. After that, they called her the "Cash Float Manager" and would ask Daddy to bring Linda in whenever they had a check that couldn't clear the bank for a while....

Smidget still has Mr. Potato Head, and will be placing him in a cache in the next few days... He has been traveling all over the country, and even to Canada! I have several photos of him on his adventures which I will try to post ...He went to Seattle and went up in the Space Needle and to the park along the harbor. Then he boarded the "Diamond Princess" cruise ship to Alaska. In Alaska, he visited lots of parks with us. He loved Mendenhall Glacier Park and went floating on the ice with a polar bear family. It was almost 90 degrees there and the ice helped keep the bear family cool. He took a bus tour of Juneau Alaska and stopped to play with a brown bear along the road. After a tramway ride up to the top of Mt. Roberts, he went geocaching with us, but the cache was too small for him to stay. We saw a bald eagle who gave Mr. Potato Head a nice ride back to the boat. Then it was off to Skagway, Alaska, and to the Yukon Territory in Canada for some jeep riding and rock climbing. Finally, a visit to Glacier Bay Park before flying back to Missouri. Then Mr. Potato Head decided to go camping with us at Onondoga State Park, where he explored the cave and floated down the river. He certainly has kept us busy. We will miss him but look forward to following his next adventure!

Picked up Mr. Potato head today from Levee Loot. Did you know that the original Mr. Potatohead toy was just the plastic eyes, ears, nose, etc. and you used a real potato to play with it. Moondoggie would not believe me on this for several years, he just thought I grew up in a family too poor to afford a plastic potato. But now that we have the internet, I was able to prove it to him!
We are going to take Mr. Potato Head with us to Seattle on Friday, then on to Alaska for a cruise and a visit to Glacier Bay National Park. He seems pretty excited about the trip.

Can't believe I kept this one so long. My apologies for that. The spud bug traveled to South Park, Kenosha Pass, Bailey, Monument, and Colorado Springs, Colorado. I took it with me caching, always intending to drop it at my final cache, but my final cache got canceled, so it came home. So now it's seen the Rockies, but is back in good ol' St. Chuck.

Took the bug to several parks in Colorado, but since I thought I was taking it to one more--and never got the chance--I wound up bringing it back to Missouri. Included however, are a couple pictures of where the bug went.

  • Hwy 285 Some of you may recognize this as the road to South Park.
  • Monument This is a park in Monument, CO.
