About This Item

This simple keyring is from my son's middle school, which is named after Gen. William Moutlrie, who commanded the defense of Ft. Sullivan (Later Ft. Moultrie) on June 28, 1776. The British Fleet was driven off with the loss of several major ships while the unfinished American fort, made of soft Palmetto Logs, absorbed the British Shot. The news of the victory at Ft. Sullivan reached Philidelphia in time to build support for issuing the Declaration of Independence.

The Fort now named after the General has two virtual caches near Charleston, SC but the General wants to go out on Patrol and see how the country is doing.
