My cousin Joanne died from Breast Cancer in 2005. While driving back to GA from the funeral in Canada I pondered what I could do to honour her, increase awareness and raise a bit of money for the fight for a cure. That's where the Cacher's For The Cure came to mind. I worked with my wife ,Kat6 and with the help of our design artist, Jamie we came up with this ribbon coin.

We made 600 of them and they were sold to cachers in Holland, Luxembourg, Germany, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Portugal and the United States. Over 330 were laser engraved with personalization of loved ones who like Joanne passed away, survivors, friends and some cachers put there handle on them. It was such a heart warning project as the e-mails came in talking about their families and friends and how this cancer had effected their lives. Some where magic, some where tragic but we had a tear or a laugh along with them

My graphic designer, Hadhatterneverland donated his talent. The minter, Coins and Pins reduced their price by 10 % to help . Susan Komen Foundation- Atlanta gave permission to use their name as did Groundspeak their logo.

ALL the money raised after costs were paid was donated to Susan G. Kohmen- Atlanta, we donated $701.10 as you can see in the picture. thanks to all who helped support this project. The Long and Lat are the coordinates for Susan Komen World Headquarters in Dallas.

It was great to meet you last night at the NMAC meeting! As a nurse I have dealt with the many faces of cancer, as an individual with a family history of breast cancer I have another view. Your story of this coin & your tribute to your cousin is heart warming. I only wish there were more of these trackables, that I might purchase one. Thank you for sharing!
