About This Item

This Geocoin is in Memory of Steven P. Myers (Steve0618)
Honoring his passion and love of Geocaching.
Steve was dedicated to placing caches for folks who wanted a real challenging hunt. Once you met this man, you came away knowing you had just met a new friend, and it seemed you had known him forever. His contagious smile and hearty handshake, the way he looked you in the eye, and his caring and concern were all genuine and you knew it right away.
He was only a geocacher for a short while but an outdoors enthusiast his entire life and once this geocaching bug bit him it consumed him and every spare minute he had. Whether it was 4pm or 4 am, let a new cache get published and Steve was on his way. Many cachers just knew they would have a FTF on a cache only to meet Steve on the trail, making his way back from already claiming the FTF.

We will miss Steve and never forget him,
Rest in Peace Brother & Friend.

We found four of Steve's caches today. I read the notes for this coin and it became obvious that we need more people like Steve in geocaching.

I never had the chance to meet Steve, but it sounds like he was much loved by his friends. My deepest sympathies for your loss. I make it up to SE Wisconsin several times a year, and will have to try for one of his caches on my next run up.

Peace to all, and I'm sure Steve is smiling with this touching tribute.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Steve's passing while I was attending the WGA Campout at Governor Dodge State Park on May 17th.

I had the honor of caching with Steve a few times and ran into him on the trails at the Bong Recreation Area on a few other occasions. I would not say I knew Steve that well but the few opportunities I had to speak with him were all positive. He never had anything bad to say about anyone and seemed to have a very positive view on life. His passion for nature, hiking, and geocaching was quite evident and I looked forward to meeting him again on the hunt.

I wish I had taken the time to get to know you better Steve. I will remember your laugh, your smile, and your kindred spirit. Happy hunting and thanks for the caches!

I never met Steve but knew his name well from this online geocaching world. His name was one that I felt I knew even though I really didn't. I heard of his passing from Table 46. It's very thoughtful of his friends to set up this memorial to him. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help maintain his caches.

I met Steve May 1st 2007...in Pets Park. Exactly a year before he died... Steve touched many people..I am convinced that everybody who met Steve..liked him..as I did
he was a friend
He would come to the coffee clutch on thursdays and order hot chocolate
the hot chocolate machine sounded like they were making Steve a drink that needed an umbrella...of course we teased him about it..but he was such a gentleman..I'm sure he took it as it was meant...harmless and fun
I'm going to miss you Steve

Mike

I met Steve last year at the Ice Cream Social by the lake. We chatted a little bit about a cache he placed in Bong. It didn’t take long to realize that he was a real nice guy and really loved Geocaching. He will be missed by many.
