Mule Shoe underground

Southwest Mine Mule Shoe travel bug is starting its journey near the Queen Tunnel in Bisbee, Arizona. The Queen Tunnel which is actually an adit, is the main entrance to the 3rd level of the Southwest Mine. Until, 1930 mules were used underground to haul trains of mine cars. On the mine levels that had adit (tunnel) entrances the mules were stabled on the surface, but a on the deeper levels they were kept in clean and dry, underground mule barns. The tiny pony shoe attached to the travel tag is the same size as the authentic mine mule shoes recovered from the upper levels of the Southwest mine.
