About This Item

2009 Victorian Bushfire Appeal Geocoin

These geocoins commemorate the 2009 Victorian bushfires, and are dedicated to those who perished, and the volunteers who risked their lives to fight the fires. The image on the front shows Sam the Koala drinking water offered by Dave Tree, based on a video image which became an iconic symbol of the disaster - koalas rarely drink water as they obtain most of their moisture from the eucalyptus leaves that form their diet.

Oh boy, this is awkward. An email regarding this coin prompted me to have a search of my caching bags and I uncovered a trove of coins I hadn't logged. Oops! Terribly sorry Adrian, on the upside your coin isn't lost in a maze of honeycomb!
