This travel bug is to commerate Hawkidad's 27 year career with the New Mexico State Police 1965-92, Hopefully the TB will travel throughout the country and the finders will post pictures of different State Police Cars and/or their uniforms.
The TB is attached to a model of the New Mexico State Police Unit (car) The New Mexico State Police was created by legislation in 1935. There were two predecessors to the department, the first being the N. M. Mounted Police organized in 1905 prior to statehood in 1911. The second organization was created in 1933 and was named the N. M. Motor Patrol and its mode of travel was by motorcycle. In 1935 under the administration of Gov. Clyde Tingley the Motor Patrol was changed to the State Police.
The department has progressed dramatically since 1935. Today the New Mexico State Police is a well trained, well equipped professional efficient organization. It is an elite corp of law enforcement officers for the state of N. M.
