Current Goal

MISSION #1
The first mission for this coin is to travel to Philadelphia and have it's picture taken at the historical marker for Tuns Tavern. As I understand it the marker is on Front Street between Chestnut and Walnut streets.

If you find this coin please move it to a cache closer to the Tuns Tavern marker in Philadelphia, PA than it was when you found it!

If you are the one to post the log showing the coin at Tuns Tavern, Congratulations!! Place it in any cache you'd like after the picture and I'll add the next mission.

SECONDARY OBJECTIVE
Have it's picture taken with all the Marines it encounters on it's journey. If you are a Marine or know a Marine get the coin's picture with your Marine and post it in your log entry.

This coin will have multiple missions, when one is complete the next will be added.

About This Item

USMC Geocoin in Ellensburg, WA

This Geocoin is dedicated to all Marines - though two Marines are particularly special to me. The first is Donald W. Goodwin who was a sergeant who led Marines in two tours in Vietnam. The second is Josiah D. Blaisdell who is currently serving as a cryptologic linguist. I have no official relation to either but one was like a father to me and the other is like a son.

Young men and women from all walks of life, races, religions, and temperaments arrive late at night in civilian clothes and stand on the famous yellow footprints. From there the transformation begins. Fat melts away, muscle builds, and thirteen weeks later a Marine emerges from the civilian shell.

The two Marines I mentioned above are two of my favorite people of all time. I don't think that is coincidence, Marines are a unique breed. To all the Marines who may find this coin I offer my hearty thanks for your service and I know that you will help this coin achieve it's mission. As has been said, there is no better friend and no worse enemy than a United States Marine. God bless you all!

MISSION #1 Tuns Tavern is the birthplace of the Marine Corps. The first recruits signed up there!

Picked up today from Obarshay while doing some caching on Whidbey Island. I wish I was headed to Philly, enjoyed what little I could see on a business trip there years ago. Will move along, thank you for releasing!
