To fly as often as possible. And to end up in Grand Forks, ND in the spring of 2016.
This travel tag is to commemorate the first solo flight for my nephew David. He is currently a freshman at the University of North Dakota (UND) and piloted his first solo flight on September 28, 2012. I think David has been interested in aviation since the day he was born. He is proof that childhood dreams really can come true.
My goal is to have this geo-tag make it to the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks before David graduates in 2016. Until then, it is free to fly as much as possible.
Sioux 73, you are clear for departure.
Why Sioux 73?
"Sioux" is the official tag for all of the University of North Dakota planes.
Until this past summer, the UND mascot had been the Fighting Sioux. Personally, I disagree with the NCAA's push to remove all of the native american nicknames. Schools chose these nicknames as a sign of strength. And one last thought, if these nicknames are so disrespectful, why hasn't Notre Dame been forced to give the "Fighting Irish" nickname?? (Not that I want them to, I just don't see the difference.) Read more about the UND nickname controversy...
"73" is the abreviated plane number.
