The mission of this travel bug is to visit other rollercoasters around the world.
The Zippin Pippin is one of the oldest existing wooden roller coasters in the United States. It was initially constructed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1912 by John A. Miller. In 1976, Memphis built a theme park around the Pippin called Libertyland.
Elvis would rent the entire Libertyland park on occasion just to ride the Pippin without constant fan interference. Just a week before his death, Elvis rented the park from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. to entertain a small number of guests and he rode the Zippin Pippin for hours without stopping. Libertyland closed in 2005 and the coaster.
The City of Green Bay purchased the plans and rights to the coaster in 2010. The Zippin Pippin was rebuilt at Bay Beach Amusement Park in Green Bay and went into operation in 2011. The park has no admission and the coaster only costs $1 to ride. It has far exceeded expectations and achieved one million riders within the first 2 years. The annual Hunka Hunka Burning Lights event is held every on August 8 (the anniversary of Elvis' last ride) at the coaster in honor of Elvis. It is the only time the coaster is open for riders after dark.

I discovered one of your trackables from a list from a good friend recently in August of this year. Since the number was available, I was told that you could do a "virtual find" and am assuming the owner has given permission to log it. If this is not the case, I apologize for my mistake. I love to look at all the wonderful trackables out there and have even found several that I have added to my own collection. Thanks to everyone for sharing them.
