Reminds us to greet each day with a smile and to have a big heart to give tolerance.
Hotei is sometimes described as the laughing Buddha, it is thought that he was an actual itinerant Buddhist Monk in China, who traveled with his goods in the cotton sack. Hotei means cotton sack. He is commonly greeted with a belly rub. Bring him to your house and welcome him. Let him rest awhile on a high shelf before you move him on. He brings luck and properity and happiness.
