Current Goal

To visit other real, live turtles and have his photograph taken with them.

This is Son of Snappy -  Snappy ressurected!

Snappy's original mission was to get back to his natural home in Florida, USA, and be photographed there with some real, full-sized relations. He got to Florida safely but there were no photos of real turtles... he then wandered all the way to Oregon where in March 2010 teamLOAR finally helped Snappy to see some real, American turtles! - Thanks to teamLOAR for helping him achieve his mission goal.

After travelling around US for 8000 miles Snappy was retrieved by the geocacher Venability in March 2010 and he stopped moving despite several emails asking for his journey to continue. Never mind. It's time to release Son of Snappy with the same mission - To visit other turtles and have his photo taken with them.

About This Item

Son of Snappy

In September 2007 a snapper turtle was happily minding his own business and trotting back to his home in the lake at Caldicot Castle, Wales, U.K. when he was unceremoniously hoisted upwards and dropped into a wheelbarrow. The Country Park's Head warden had decided that it was time for him to be "re-located" to restore the natural balance in the lake, where all the indigenous moorhens and ducks had been living in fear and trepidation of having their webbed feet snapped off, or worse... So Snappy the Turtle ended up in a Tortoise and Turtle sanctuary somewhere in West Wales. There endeth the story, more details can be read "here." Let's hope Snappy's happy in his new home, but his adventures continue in the tale of this little TB Son of Snappy who's trying to follow in his dad's flippersteps..

I've taken Snappy with me on a motorcycle trip down South. Right now I'm in Mississippi, but I'll try to get him a little closer to Florida before I let him go. If I drop him near the Gulf of Mexico, can he just swim to Florida on his own? 🙂

I found this little guy in a cache called Plamann Pines (GC1A0RX) in Appleton, Wisconsin. I know a geocacher who will be heading south to New Orleans, so perhaps I can send Snappy along with him to get him closer to Florida.
