Simply Paw'l. Dropped in NYC while I (SP) was in town visiting for my 40th birthday.
Mission: To get back to me (Simply Paul) in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom, after travels and adventures fitting a TB of this level of grumpy cuteness. Photos and interesting logs are always appreciated. I just hope this one makes it home; the original TB with this number (see below) vanished in the states :(
Formerly SIMPLY PAUL'S PINK THING:
I am competing in the Travel Bug Race "It's Not An Anorak, It's a Travel Bug Race" from Australia to the UK, via ANY other country. So please move me towards my goal as quickly as possible! Help me beat all the others and be the first to get back to my nominated cache, ROVER (Bucks) - Also known as GCJNKD, and then the final cache, link below. You can also follow my travels on the official race web site at: http://dontgohere.nu/caching/tb-race.htm.
Simply Paul's Pink Thing is a TV star in the UK. It appeared on BBC's Countryfile programme on the 13th of February 2005. I'd filmed a video diary about caching in November & December 2004 and in one segment Pink Thing was shown to the camera as an example of cache contents. Thus a star was born! My Geocaching page. Or click a link to see the video: 41.7Mb / 266 second .MPG version or right click and 'Save Target As...' to download this 3.2Mb / 266 second .WMV version.
When another UK cacher announced a TB race in my (sort of!) honour, what else could I do but return to the cache I'd filmed, rescue the Pink Thing from it, slap a TB tag on it and send it off into the world?
HERE ARE THE RULES FOR THE RACE:
i) The winner of the race will be the first registered travel bug to travel from its release cache in Australia back to the end cache in Buckinghamshire UK. The Release cache will be one of several in the release area of Townsville, North Queensland, chosen at random. This end cache was set especially for this race by me: IT'S NOT AN ANORAK, IT'S A TRAVEL BUG RACE TARGET! - GCN8JQ.
ii) All travel bugs must be delivered to Bob Smith by Tuesday, April 12th, 2005, preferably earlier.
iii) All competing travel bugs must have a Simply Paul theme. This can be a representation of the Green One himself, or of the nominated SP target cache (see 4 below). They should also be new tags with 0 (zero) miles recorded against them.
iv) Each travel bug should have a nominated Simply Paul cache which it has to visit before reaching the target cache. Should the cache become unavailable, for example get archived, a substitute cache can be nominated. The bugs are not strictly limited to one nomination per cache, although this is to be encouraged.
v) As well as visiting its nominated cache, each Travel Bug should visit an additional country in its travels. This does not include the UK or Australia but can be before or after visiting the nominated cache.
vi) No owner of any of the competing travel bugs may assist their own travel bug or interfere with the progress of anyone else's competing travel bug.
