Leg #4 of the NASCAR TB Race 2005 is the St. Jones River Trail, a geocache in Dover, Delaware. This cache is along a riverfront greenway near the DelDOT campus. This is a nice geocache, even without the race. Race caches must be visited in order, so please head for Dover.
There were multiple goal tags sent with this TB to handle the long race route that we are attempting. The tag that is currently relevant and should be displayed is "Race #4 ... Dover Downs Speedway ... Delaware".
Thanks to the NEFGA, Agent K, Jason and Christian, and Cocacola1820 for moving this TB to Darlington in T-1st place, and for their geocaching fair play. This TB sits 7th in the current race standings.
The only special rule for this TB race (besides the normal travel bugs rules) is that TBs must be left in the race cache for another cacher for the visit to count. "Drop-n-grabs" are not allowed at the race caches. They are allowed at any intermediate stops you might make while traveling.
#90 Dick Trickle - Junie Donleavy Racing - Helig-Myers Furniture Ford
This #90 Dick Trickle - Donleavy Racing - Helig-Myers Furniture Ford is participating in the NASCAR TB Race 2005 . He's racing 36 other TBs along a route of 14 specific caches near major NASCAR tracks throughout the country, see the race website for details.
The name (and related jokes) are famous thanks to Keith Olbermann in his ESPN days. But Dick Trickle had plenty of success during his long racing career. Rather than describe it myself, here is Dick's Official Fan Club site and his career statistics, straight from NASCAR.
My affinity for this car is just as much for the owner of the #90, Richmond VA's Junie Donleavy. For the first time since 1959, this legendary car owner will not attempt to field a car for the Daytona 500. Many NASCAR stars drove for Donleavy at one time or another in their careers. The best article I could find on Junie is from an unofficial Dick Trickle fan site.
Photos along the way are encouraged! Please ensure the number on the tag is not visible in any photo's.
Thank you for playing fair!!.
