Current Goal

Stadium Stan is an avid sports fan. He may look like a hockey player from my son's favourite team but he enjoys all sports. He would like to visit as many sports venues (stadiums, arenas, ballparks, golf courses, parks, pools, etc) as he can get to. Please take a picture of him at various sporting events or venues.

Stan's ultimate goal would be to visit the Vancouver Canucks at GM Place or even be in Vancouver during the 2010 Olympic games.

My first travel bug is a family collaboration. My son's favourite hockey team is the Vancouver Canucks, my husband suggested the mission, my daughter brainstormed names, and I am the geocaching nut in the family.

Stan visited the stadium of Scripps Ranch High School in San Diego, California -- a suburban area about nine miles inland from the Pacific Ocean (which you can see from some of the hills here). Then he went into a cache just east of the high school, at a park especially for dogs to run around and play Frisbee in! Sorry no professional hockey team here; our last minor-league team, the Gulls, went out of business a few years ago. Just couldn't attract the surfing crowd into a cold arena, I guess :-) Will post photos in a few minutes.

Unforunately I didn't have time to photograph Stan at Chapel Hill's best-known sports venues, the Dean Dome and Carmichael Auditorium, but will soon get his picture with another stadium in a galaxy far, far away.

We found Stadium Stan and we're taking him down to the cities. Hopefully he can catch an event at the Xcel or the Metrodome. Otherwise we have a vactation coming up and we might take him there.

Gotta love hockey. We're from Minnesota and the Wild hockey team. Will take him north and see if we can get some pictures of Stan and some sports complexes there.
